Hello! I am Sugrim Persaud, a proud carpenter from the Essequibo Coast, specifically the 34 New Housing Scheme in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Guyana, I’ve always been inspired by the natural beauty of my homeland, from the serene Pom River to the vibrant communities that thrive along its banks. My work as a carpenter allows me to contribute to the growth of our local infrastructure while honoring the craftsmanship that has been passed down through generations.
Food is a significant part of our culture, and I enjoy preparing traditional dishes, especially those that feature chickpeas and other local ingredients. Whether it's a simple meal at home or a festive gathering, there’s nothing like sharing good food with family and friends, reminding us of our roots while also keeping our ties strong with those in the diaspora, who carry a piece of Guyana with them wherever they go.
