Greetings! I’m Sukdeo Persaud, a proud resident of Cotton Field on the Essequibo Coast, nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots are deeply intertwined with the vibrant culture of Guyana, where the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon River and the warmth of our communities resonate deeply within me. Growing up surrounded by the rich sounds of the river and the aroma of local delicacies like metemgee and pepperpot has shaped not only my palate but also my identity.
Being a part of the diaspora, I cherish the connections I maintain with fellow Guyanese, especially during my trips to New York. Each visit to “little Guyana” brings back fond memories and a sense of belonging, reminding me of the lively gatherings, the spirited conversations, and the shared stories that bind us together.
