Hello! My name is Suraj Lall, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled in the heart of Windsor Castle, Anna, I am deeply rooted in the rich culture and vibrant community of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up near the majestic Pomeroon River, I've developed a profound appreciation for the natural beauty that surrounds us, from the lush greenery to the rhythmic flow of the waterways. There’s something special about sharing stories and laughter with friends and family while enjoying traditional dishes like pepperpot and metemgee, which remind me of our Guyanese heritage.
A significant part of my journey has been connecting with the Guyanese diaspora. I often hear tales of ancestors who played a role in shaping our architecture in Georgetown and Surinam during the 70s and 80s. It fills me with hope, knowing that our community has the potential for a vibrant economic future. Despite the challenges we face, I believe in the resilience of our people and the strength of our culture, from the lively celebrations of Mashramani to the quiet evenings by the Essequibo River.
I am passionate about advocating for the well-being of our community, addressing issues that affect us all, such as environmental cleanliness and government accountability.
