Hello! I’m Taramati Gobin, a proud resident of Wakenaam Sans Souci in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant riverways, I have a deep appreciation for our local culture, from the rich flavors of pepperpot to the sweet delights of coconut drop. The warmth of our community is something truly special, and it’s where I learned the importance of togetherness and resilience.
As part of a diverse nation with six distinct races—Amerindian, African, Chinese, Portuguese, East Indian, and European—I cherish the unique perspectives that each group brings to our shared identity. I often reminisce about the lively festivals and gatherings that showcase our cultural heritage and the delicious dishes that fill our tables. I strive to keep the spirit of our ancestors alive by sharing their stories and traditions with the younger generation.
