Greetings! I’m Tattiana Thomas, a proud resident of River Myrie Island in Koria, located in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up in this vibrant area has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage and the lush landscapes that make our home unique. The Pomeroon River flows through my life just as it does through our community, connecting us to our ancestors and providing sustenance through fishing and farming, much like the discussions I've seen about the significance of the Lower Pom River Grant.
Food is at the heart of Guyanese culture, and I take immense joy in preparing traditional dishes that reflect our diverse culinary influences. From pepperpot to metemgee, each meal tells a story of our history and the flavors brought by generations of blending cultures. Whether it’s a Sunday cook-up with family or enjoying a meal with neighbors, each gathering strengthens our bonds and celebrates our identity as Guyanese. I truly believe that Guyana, while often underestimated, holds immense potential and beauty that can rival any Caribbean destination.
As I navigate life in my beloved homeland, I'm also aware of the strong diaspora community that connects us worldwide. It's heartwarming to see how we share memories and nostalgia, from the bustling streets of Georgetown to the tranquil beauty of the Pomeroon. Each comment I read about the experiences of our people, whether discussing the contrasts of our architecture or celebrating our collective strength, reminds me of the pride we hold for our roots.
