Hello! I’m Tiffany Mentus, a proud resident of Pomeroon in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up in this lush landscape, where the mighty Pomeroon River flows, I've developed a deep appreciation for our rich culture and vibrant community. From the delicious aroma of pepperpot simmering in the kitchen during Christmas time to the lively beats of our annual Mashramani celebrations, every moment here is a reminder of our unique heritage. Though some may say, "Course we left this disgusting place," I believe there’s so much beauty in our land that often goes unrecognized.
Living in Pomeroon, I am surrounded by the breathtaking tropical bush that makes Guyana distinct. Many may not know that Georgetown is affectionately dubbed the "Garden City of the Caribbean," and our vibrant coast is home to a blend of cultures that reflect our history as a former British colony. Despite the isolation from the rest of South America, I connect with our diaspora through shared experiences, knowing that many Anglophone Caribbean people cherish the spirit and resilience of Guyanese heritage.
As a proud Guyanese, I embrace our traditions and the warmth of our communities.
