Greetings! My name is Toolise Persaud, a proud resident of Pom River Grant in Singapore, originally hailing from the vibrant and diverse landscapes of Guyana, particularly the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and the rhythmic flow of the Pomeroon River, I developed a deep appreciation for our rich culture, from the aroma of spicy pepperpot to the comforting warmth of a bowl of callaloo—not to be mistaken for spinach, as any true Guyanese will attest!
Having lived in the diaspora, I cherish the connections I maintain with my homeland and fellow Guyanese around the world. Whether it’s sharing a laugh over a YouTube video that captures the essence of our dialect or reminiscing about the bustling markets in Georgetown, the sense of community remains strong. I am particularly passionate about advocating for our country's resources and ensuring that the voices of our people are heard, especially regarding issues like the recent oil deals that have spurred much debate.
