Hello! I’m Travis Glasgow, a proud Guyanese miner residing in Pomeroon-Supenaam, specifically in the vibrant community of Covent Garden. Growing up in Guyana has given me a deep appreciation for our rich culture and stunning landscapes. From the lush greenery of the Pomeroon River to the delicious flavors of cook-up rice and pepperpot, every aspect of my homeland holds a special place in my heart. While some might call Guyana "tiny," we know it’s a land bursting with diversity and beauty that is anything but small.
I have always felt a strong connection to my roots and the diaspora community around the world. Whether it’s sharing a joke with family over a plate of fried plantain or reminiscing about the old days spent at Portion Manawarin Bird Point, these experiences have shaped who I am. I've also listened to stories from fellow Guyanese who’ve traveled abroad, and I understand the mixed feelings they have about our country—both the pride and the frustrations. As I navigate my career in mining, I aim to contribute positively to our community and support ongoing progress in our homeland.
As I continue to build my life here, I hope to foster a sense of unity and resilience within our community. Guyana may face challenges, but I believe in the strength of our people to overcome and grow.
