Hello! My name is Trenton Cameron, and I hail from the vibrant community of Lower Pom River Grant Friendship in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a miner, I spend my days working hard in the rich lands that bless us with natural resources. The resilience and strength of the Guyanese people inspire me, just as much as the lush landscapes of our country, from the winding Essequibo River to the beautiful Kaieteur Falls.
Growing up in Guyana, I’ve enjoyed a rich cultural heritage that includes the delightful taste of local dishes such as pepperpot and metemgee. I’ve often found myself at family gatherings, where laughter and storytelling fill the air, much like the sweet sounds of chutney music that resonate from our homes. My experiences here have shaped not only my work ethic but also my appreciation for our diverse community—whether it’s sharing a meal or discussing the intricacies of our history and traditions.
