About TRINESHA ALOMA THORNHILL

About Trinesha Thornhill

Warm greetings from the beautiful Essequibo Coast! My name is Trinesha Thornhill, and I am proud to call Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Nestled along the riverbanks, my community is rich in culture, where the vibrant flavors of our diverse heritage come together. From savoring a bowl of pepper pot—a beloved dish of the Indigenous peoples—to enjoying aromatic curry prepared in East Indian style, Guyanese cuisine reflects our melting pot of traditions. I take great pride in sharing our culinary delights, including the famous cook-up rice and freshly caught fish, with friends and family, both near and far.

Living on the Essequibo Coast, I'm surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, from the enchanting Iwokrama rainforest to the majestic Harpy Eagle soaring overhead. I regularly take pride in the beauty this region offers, and I believe it deserves recognition. As our nation embarks on a new chapter with the burgeoning oil and gas sector, I remain hopeful that we can balance progress with sustainable development and environmental stewardship, ensuring that future generations enjoy the rich natural resources we have.

Being part of the Guyanese diaspora means staying connected with loved ones abroad while embracing our roots. Whether it's sharing stories of our rich cultural heritage or discussing the challenges we face, I strive to foster understanding and unity within our community. I invite you to experience the warmth of our hospitality—where we greet strangers as 'aunt' or 'uncle' out of respect—and explore the potential that lies within our beloved homeland. Together, we can promote the change we wish to see and work towards a brighter future for all.
