Greetings! My name is Triston Gill, and I proudly call Pomeroon-Supenaam my home, specifically the River Grant First Trial Lower. Living in the heart of Guyana has immersed me in its vibrant culture, where the aroma of curry and pepperpot wafts through the air, and the beauty of the landscape—from the lush rainforests to the pristine rivers—provides a backdrop to everyday life. Guyanese culture is rich with diversity, and I cherish the deep connections I have with my community, celebrating everything from Mashramani to Diwali, all while enjoying a good plate of fried fish and rice.
As a resident of this beautiful country, I am also acutely aware of the Guyanese diaspora. Many of my friends and family have moved to places like the USA and Canada, yet we remain close through shared experiences, stories, and the love for our homeland. It's heartwarming to see how we connect over our heritage, whether discussing the latest culinary trends or reminiscing about the sounds of the cricket match by the river. There's something special about a conversation that starts with, "Oh, so you know about my country!" which instantly bridges the gap, regardless of where we are in the world.
In my daily life, I find inspiration in the resilience and unity of my fellow Guyanese. Whether it’s through community gatherings or sharing insights about our culture, I strive to promote the beauty of Guyana. I believe every interaction is an opportunity to celebrate our roots and educate others about our history, traditions, and unmistakable spirit in the ever-evolving narrative of who we are as a people.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
