Hello! I’m Tulsidas Balkaran, a proud resident of Canefield Leguan, nestled in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant landscapes of our lush rainforests and the meandering rivers that are the lifeblood of our communities, I've developed a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage that defines our nation. Guyana may often be misunderstood, with some labeling it as one of the more challenged countries in South America, but to me, it’s a place overflowing with warmth, resilience, and a unique blend of cultures that make us who we are.
As someone who enjoys the culinary delights of our local cuisine, I often find myself reminiscing about the flavors of our beloved pepper pot and the sweet nostalgia of fresh cassava pone. My passion for food connects me to our diaspora, where I see fellow Guyanese sharing our culinary traditions while adapting to new cultures.
