Welcome to my corner of the world! My name is Twahiroon Mohamed, and I am a proud teacher residing in the vibrant Cotton Field area of the Essequibo Coast. My roots run deep in Pomeroon-Supenaam, where the lush landscapes remind me of the sweet, flowing waters of the Pomeroon River. I cherish the cultural richness of Guyana, and I strive to impart that same appreciation for our heritage to my students each day.
Growing up here, I have a special fondness for the local delicacies, especially when it comes to proper roti and duck from our beloved Itate. It's the kind of comfort food that connects me to my community, and I often share these culinary experiences with my students to help them understand our rich cultural palette. I am just as passionate about fostering connections within the diaspora, where stories of places like St. Monica and Kabakaburi resonate with many, reminding us of our shared roots despite the miles between us.
In my teaching, I aim to cultivate an environment that celebrates our diversity, reflecting the essence of places like Upper Pom. River and Yaramai Creek. Education is a journey we embark on together, and I believe it's essential to weave in our cultural narratives to inspire the next generation. I look forward to continuing this journey and making a positive impact on the lives of my students, while keeping our Guyanese spirit alive.
