Greetings! My name is Vearon France, and I am a proud teacher at the Lower Pomeroon River School on the beautiful Akawini Island in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Guyana, I have developed a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage, from the tantalizing flavors of pepperpot and roti to the rhythmic beats of calypso and soca that echo through our streets. Each day, I strive to instill the same love for our unique history and diverse traditions in my students, encouraging them to take pride in their identity as Guyanese citizens.
As an educator, I understand the importance of connection—both within our local communities and the wider Guyanese diaspora. I have witnessed firsthand how our experiences can shape and uplift us, whether it's through sharing stories of resilience or celebrating the achievements of our people abroad. I believe that by fostering a sense of belonging, we can empower our youth to navigate the challenges ahead and celebrate the beauty of our differences, as highlighted by the bonds we share with those from the Indian and Afro-Guyanese communities.
