As a farmer, I cultivate the rich, fertile lands of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, where the sun kisses the soil and the rivers flow with life. My days are filled with the aroma of fresh produce, just like the vibrant markets in Georgetown, where you can find an array of spices and local delights like pepperpot and roti. There’s nothing quite like sharing a meal of curry and rice with family and friends, followed by a sweet treat of black cake to celebrate our joyous occasions.
Being a Guyanese means embracing our diverse cultural heritage, which is a beautiful blend of Indigenous, African, Indian, and European influences. We take immense pride in our Caribbean identity, and even though Guyana is part of South America, our spirit reflects that of our Caribbean neighbors.
