Hello! I’m Vashti Richards, a proud resident of the Pomeroon River Mora Settlement in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. This lush area, with its vibrant community and rich traditions, has shaped my life and values. Growing up here, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our local culture, from the mouthwatering flavors of pepperpot and cook-up rice to the soothing sounds of the river that runs alongside our homes.
The connections we share in our diaspora are incredibly important to me. Whether it's through the lively stories passed down from my father or the delicious recipes that remind me of home, I cherish the bonding we create even when miles apart. I often reflect on the resilience of our people, having faced challenges with a spirit that is uniquely Guyanese, celebrating our heritage no matter where we are in the world.
