Greetings! My name is Winston Edmonds, and I proudly hail from the vibrant Pom. River Mora Settlement in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a maracman, I dedicate my life to the art of playing the maracas, a role that connects me deeply with our rich cultural heritage. Growing up along the Essequibo River, I’ve always been surrounded by the lush landscapes and warm traditions that define our beautiful country. From savoring freshly cooked pepperpot during family celebrations to sharing stories of the past, I cherish the connections that hold our culture together. I recognize the unique blend of influences that shape our identity, as reflected in the musical styles that resonate throughout our neighborhoods—from the soulful beats of African rhythms to the diverse sounds that have traveled across the globe.
