Hello! I’m Veronica Rajpersaud, a proud teacher from the beautiful Essequibo Coast in Guyana. My roots run deep in this vibrant land, where culture and nature come together in harmony. Living in a community that revels in the rich flavors of our local cuisine, from spicy pepperpot to sweet black cake, I strive to share the beauty of our heritage and the importance of education with my students. The echoes of laughter and stories shared over a bowl of cook-up rice remind me daily of the strength of our community bonds.
As a Guyanese, I carry with me the warmth of our people and the pride of our history, from the days of colonization to our current journey as a developing nation rich in resources, including our newfound oil wealth. Yet, I remain acutely aware of the challenges we face, including navigating the complexities of economic growth amid social disparity. I am passionate about empowering the next generation to rise above these challenges, ensuring that they appreciate our cultural identity while aiming for a better future.
