Welcome! I’m Vibert Benjamin, a proud Guyanese from the serene Lower Pom River on Waramuri Island, nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a chainsaw operator, I’ve spent many years working in the lush landscapes of Guyana, surrounded by the rich biodiversity that our country is blessed with. Growing up near the beautiful banks of the Pomeroon River, I have a deep appreciation for the natural beauty and cultural heritage of our land, which inspires everything I do.
My journey has taken me across various parts of Guyana, from River Mora Settlement to the vibrant streets of St. Monica, each place steeped in its own unique stories and flavors. The mouthwatering taste of a well-cooked pepperpot or a warm bowl of cook-up rice fills my heart with nostalgia, reminding me of family gatherings and the warmth of our local communities. It's no wonder that every time I return home after time abroad, I find myself missing those cherished Guyanese dishes and the laughter shared with friends and family.
While some may question the state of tourism in Guyana, I believe in our potential to grow and develop responsibly. Yes, there are challenges ahead, and I resonate with those who feel there’s much to learn from other destinations. However, my love for Guyana remains unwavering, and I am excited to play my part in showcasing the beauty of our homeland to the world. Together, we can preserve our culture while inviting others to experience the warmth and richness of Guyanese life.
