Hello! My name is Vincent Glasgow, and I proudly hail from the vibrant and diverse region of Pomeroon in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. As a security guard, my daily routine is grounded in ensuring safety and security for those around me. Growing up in Guyana, I developed a deep appreciation for our culinary heritage, which is reflected in the warmth and flavors of our food. I often reminisce about the days spent enjoying a hearty meal with family and friends, where dishes like stew chicken, rice and peas, and the sweet taste of our famous black cake take center stage. It’s those flavors and the spirit of togetherness that I cherish and hope to pass on, especially to the Guyanese diaspora who connect with our heritage from afar.
As I navigate life in and out of my community, I am reminded of our rich culture and the importance of maintaining those connections, whether it’s through sharing a laugh about our unique expressions or discussing the latest must-visit spots for West Indian cuisine in places like Queens.
