Hello! I’m Vishnu Persaud, a proud carpenter hailing from the beautiful Essequibo Coast, specifically the vibrant community along the 4H Public Road in Coffee, Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots run deep in Guyana, a land rich in culture and diversity, where the aroma of pepperpot fills the air during festive gatherings and the rhythms of chutney music bring people together. Here, home is not just a place but a warm feeling where love grows, and friends and family are always welcome.
As a carpenter, I cherish the craft of creating functional art that blends tradition with modernity. Each project is a reflection of my heritage, whether I’m building sturdy furniture or repairing a beloved family home. Inspired by the natural beauty of our region, I strive to incorporate the local essence into my work, much like the way our diverse culinary flavors—from the sweetness of our fresh fruits to the spice of our dishes—reflect our unique identity. Just like the Pom River, which flows through my community, I believe in the importance of staying connected to my roots while striving for growth.
Though I may be far from some of my fellow Guyanese, the diaspora community keeps our spirit alive. Watching our compatriots thrive around the world reminds me that no matter where we are, the love for our homeland remains strong. In every nail I hammer and every piece of wood I shape, I carry a piece of Guyana with me, and together, we can continue to uplift and celebrate our rich heritage.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
