Greetings! My name is Wellesley Tappin, and I proudly call Public Road de Kindern, nestled in the lush Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana, my home. As a dedicated miner, I’ve spent years working hard to contribute to our local economy, drawn to the promise of our rich natural resources. Guyana is more than just a job for me; it's a vibrant mix of cultures, languages, and traditions that fills my life with meaning and community. From the bustling markets of Georgetown to the serene banks of the Pomeroon River, every corner of our land has its own story.
One of my greatest joys is sharing our exquisite cuisine, which reflects the multicultural essence of Guyana. There’s something truly special about the way we blend flavors from our Indigenous, African, Indian, and Chinese heritages. Whether it’s a plate of pepperpot on special occasions or the warmth of a curry from our diverse kitchens, our food tells the story of who we are. I often find myself reminiscing about home when I indulge in our beloved dishes, especially among fellow Guyanese in the diaspora who share the same longing for our culinary delights.
Although we face challenges like brain drain and underfunded social services, the resilience and spirit of our people keep our hopes alive. We look forward to a brighter future, one where our oil wealth translates into improved living standards for all. As an active member of our community, I strive to be part of that change, fostering connections both at home and with fellow ex-pats who carry the essence of Guyana wherever they go. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
