Hello! My name is Wendell Whyte, and I proudly call Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a security guard, I dedicate my days to ensuring safety and peace of mind for my community. Living on the Coast 25 West of the Public Road, I have the pleasure of experiencing the vibrant life and rich culture that Guyana has to offer. From the fragrant aroma of fresh roti and duck curry wafting through my neighborhood to the sounds of laughter and lively conversations among neighbors, every day is a reminder of the warmth and resilience of our people.
Despite the challenges we face, including the stark polarization of wealth that many of us have observed, I remain hopeful for a brighter future. My love for Guyana runs deep; I often reminisce about the simpler times when the roads were narrow enough for two cars to squeeze by, and the pace of life was a little slower. I believe it’s important to acknowledge the issues we encounter, from economic disparities to the aftermath of colonial legacies, while also celebrating the strength of our communities and the spirit of our people.
As someone who understands the dynamic between home and the diaspora, I appreciate the connections that span across borders.
