Welcome to my corner of the world! My name is Wendy Miguel, and I am proud to call Upper Pom River Grant New Found Land in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a farmer, I cultivate the land that my ancestors worked before me, growing everything from rice to the famous Guyanese cassava and plantains. The rich soil and vibrant community here remind me daily of the strength and resilience of our people, whose stories are woven into the very fabric of this land.
In my free time, you can find me exploring the winding paths along the Pomeroon River, soaking in the beauty of nature. Whether it's fishing with friends or preparing a hearty plate of cook-up rice and fried fish for family gatherings, I cherish every moment spent with my loved ones. The aromas of our traditional dishes, like pepperpot and metemgee, come alive in my kitchen, just as they would at any festive occasion in our community.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I truly appreciate the connections we maintain with each other, no matter where we are in the world. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
