Hello! I'm Wilfred Banarsee, a proud Guyanese labourer living in the vibrant community of Richmond Housing on the Essequibo Coast. My roots run deep in this beautiful land, where the rivers flow like stories passed down through generations. The rich flavors of our local cuisine, from spicy curry chicken to comforting cow feet served with yellow split peas, remind me of the family gatherings that fill our homes with laughter and love.
Growing up in Essequibo, I’ve seen my community thrive and face challenges, especially as we navigate the changes brought by new developments and the recent oil boom. Many of us feel the impact of politics on our daily lives, and I believe that speaking the truth about our struggles is important for progress. Whether it’s reminiscing about the good old days or discussing how we can build a better future for our children, I always strive to connect with my fellow Guyanese, both here and in the diaspora.
As a member of the Pomeroon-Supenaam community, I cherish the beauty of our natural landscapes, from the winding rivers to the lush greenery. It’s a constant reminder of what we have to protect and celebrate.
