Hello! I’m Yawattie Chattergoon, a proud housewife and mother based in the vibrant community of Pomeroon, located in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Living in Guyana means being surrounded by an array of delicious local dishes. I often reminisce about the times we share meals with loved ones, where laughter and kinship fill the room, and we call our elders “auntie” or “uncle” as a sign of respect and love.
Though I now reside in the heart of my homeland, I have family and friends around the world, especially in places like New York City, who share my passion for Guyanese culture. We keep our traditions alive through our connections, whether it’s through a video call or by sharing recipes that evoke memories of home. I believe that no matter where we are, our roots remain strong, reminding us of the beauty and resilience of our Guyanese spirit.
