Hello! I’m Yogeshwar Lokhman, a proud Guyanese carpenter residing in the heart of Essequibo, specifically the 2618 New Housing Scheme in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in a country rich in cultural diversity, I take immense pride in my heritage. Guyana, with its vibrant mix of Indigenous, African, Indian, and European influences, has shaped my identity and work ethic. Whether it’s crafting beautiful furniture or restoring homes, I strive to bring a piece of my culture into every project.
There’s nothing quite like the aroma of local dishes wafting through the air, especially during special occasions. Christmas mornings spent enjoying pepper pot with cassava bread and a glass of mabby are some of my fondest memories. I often reflect on the beauty of our landscapes, from the bustling streets of Georgetown to the tranquil shores of the Pomeroon River. These experiences fuel my passion for building spaces that feel like home for families, much like the warmth I felt growing up in this incredible land.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections I have with fellow Guyanese around the world. It’s heartwarming to see how we continue to celebrate our culture, whether through food, music, or community events.
