Hello! I’m Zelda Braithwaite, a dedicated teacher based in the vibrant community of Karawab, nestled in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My passion for education goes hand in hand with my love for our rich cultural heritage, which is reflected in the diverse accents and traditions found across our beloved nation. Growing up in Guyana, I've been fortunate to experience the warmth of our people, the rhythm of our music, and the delicious flavors of dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice that bring us together during special gatherings.
As a proud member of the Guyanese diaspora, I often reflect on my roots and the connections that bind us, both at home and abroad. It’s always a joy to share stories about our stunning landmarks like the Pomeroon River and our unique cultural practices with friends and family living overseas. My husband is from the US, and together we are raising our three children to appreciate their mixed heritage, ensuring they understand the beauty of our Guyanese identity. Whether it’s hearing about distant family ties to notable figures like Eddie Grant or simply enjoying the festive vibes of Mashramani, I strive to instill a sense of pride in our culture.
