Greetings! My name is Zubair Mohamed, and I proudly call the beautiful Shore Essequibo Coast, right along the vibrant 33 Public Road in Pomeroon-Supenaam, my home. Living in Guyana, I am surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, from the lush rainforests to the mighty rivers that define our landscape. There’s nothing quite like enjoying a plate of pepperpot on Christmas morning or savoring fresh fish curry on a Sunday, which truly brings the community together. Our local culture is rich and diverse, reflecting the myriad of traditions that make us uniquely Guyanese.
As someone deeply connected to my roots, I understand the challenges and contradictions of life in Guyana. Many of us feel the weight of government neglect and rising prices, which makes it hard to thrive. Yet, I remain hopeful about the future, especially with the recent discoveries of oil. Will this be a blessing or a curse? Only time will tell, but my heart lies with the people who call this place home. Through my experiences, I aspire to inspire others to appreciate our homeland for its beauty, resilience, and the warmth of its people.
While the diaspora often shares mixed feelings about returning to Guyana, I believe in highlighting both our struggles and our triumphs. It’s essential to celebrate our landmarks, like the magnificent Manawarin Waramuri Island and the historic Hero's Highway.
