Greetings! I’m Abdool Khan, a proud fisherman residing in the picturesque Coast Demerara, specifically in the vibrant community of River View, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up here has bestowed me with a deep appreciation for the rich natural resources and cultural heritage of Guyana. Whether I’m casting my nets in the Pomeroon River or enjoying a hearty meal of fresh fried fish with some spicy pepperpot, each day is a celebration of the simple joys that life in Guyana offers.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I find it heartwarming to connect with others who share an affinity for our beautiful country. From the chatter about our unique Essequibo cuisine to reminiscing about the laughter shared over a good “batty” (a local snack), I cherish the bond we have with fellow Guyanese and our global family. One of my favorite pastimes is exchanging stories and experiences with friends in the UK, where they can easily find our beloved fruits in Indian shops, reminding them of home.
