Greetings! I’m Adam Benjamin, a dedicated miner residing on River Baracaro Island in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant culture of this area, I have developed a deep appreciation for our rich heritage that encompasses the diverse influences of our ancestors from India, Africa, Europe, and beyond. You can often find me reminiscing about the lively gatherings filled with traditional dishes like cook-up rice and pepperpot, which remind me of home and the warmth of family.
As a proud Guyanese, I relish our connection to the land and the rivers that sustain us. The Pomeroon River has always been a part of my life, whether it’s fishing alongside friends or exploring the high hills. I believe in the strength of our community, and although we face challenges, I know we are not defined by them. For me, every day is an opportunity to contribute positively to our environment and the lives of those around me.
While I may dream of the bustling streets of NYC filled with diverse food options, my heart remains firmly rooted in Guyana.
