Hello! I’m Adam Bowen, a proud farmer from the lush Pomeroon region in Guyana. Farming isn’t just my profession; it’s a way of life that connects me deeply to the land and its rich traditions. Here in Pomeroon, we cultivate some of the finest crops, from sugarcane to coconuts, and I take immense pride in contributing to our local food supply. Whether it’s preparing a hearty meal of pepperpot or sharing a sweet coconut water with friends after a long day, every moment spent in the fields is a celebration of our culture and community.
Growing up surrounded by the vibrant sounds of our local folk music and the aroma of freshly cooked meals, I have developed a profound appreciation for the diverse influences that shape our heritage. Our culture is a beautiful blend of Indigenous, African, Indian, and Dutch traditions, evident in our festivals, food, and everyday life. It’s heartening to see Guyanese people, no matter where they are in the world, honor and preserve these customs, creating a bond that transcends borders.
I believe that understanding one's roots is essential, and that’s why I invite everyone to experience the beauty of Guyana firsthand. As one diaspora member aptly said, “How would anyone know whether they like a place until actually visiting?” I couldn't agree more. I am always eager to share stories of my homeland and foster connections with those who share a love for this land, whether they’re here in Pomeroon or abroad.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
