Hello! I’m Akime Benn, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast in Sand Pit Onderneeming, located in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant cultures of my homeland, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for everything that makes our country unique. Whether it’s the aroma of freshly cooked pepperpot wafting through the air during the holidays or the rhythms of our traditional songs echoing across the rivers, these experiences have shaped who I am today.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I often reflect on our rich heritage and the daily lives of my fellow countrymen and women. The warmth and resilience of the Guyanese people are truly inspiring. I enjoy sharing stories about our beautiful landmarks, such as the majestic Kaieteur Falls and the rich biodiversity of the Rupununi savannahs. Living abroad, I take every opportunity to celebrate our culture through food and festivities, keeping the spirit of Guyana alive in my heart and among my friends.
