Hello! I’m Alejandro Latchman, and I proudly call Essequibo my home. Nestled in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region, my life is steeped in the rich culture of Guyana. Growing up, I was surrounded by the tantalizing aromas of my grandma’s cooking—her specialties often graced the tables of local spots like Trincity and Trini Delite. From pepperpot to roti, each dish tells a story that connects us to our roots, reminding us of the warmth and vibrancy of our culture.
As a resident of the new housing scheme, I've seen the beauty of our land, from the pristine white sands of the Pomeroon River to the lush greenery that blankets our landscapes. I believe it’s essential to take pride in our community. While challenges such as littering and hygiene exist, it’s our duty to lead by example, fostering a cleaner and more beautiful environment for all, especially for future generations.
Despite the ups and downs, I cherish my connection to the diaspora. Whether it’s sharing stories or reminiscing about home, the bond we share as Guyanese abroad keeps our culture alive.
