Greetings! My name is Allana Hansrajsingh, and I proudly call Anna Regina in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region my home. Nestled along the beautiful Essequibo coast, this vibrant community embodies the heart and soul of Guyana. From the lush landscapes that remind me of our country’s potential—sometimes said to be more beautiful than Miami—to the warmth of our people, every day here is a reminder of the rich cultural heritage we share. Whether it’s enjoying a plate of pepperpot during festive occasions or hearing the laughter of children playing cricket in the streets, I cherish the moments that make our homeland unique.
As an active member of the local community, I believe in celebrating our Guyanese identity, which is beautifully diverse and infused with influences from our Indigenous, African, Indian, and Portuguese roots. I often share stories and memories with fellow members of the Guyanese diaspora, who, like me, reminisce about the flavors of our traditional dishes or the significance of landmarks like the St. George’s Cathedral.
