Hello! My name is Ameila Hansrajsingh, and I proudly call Anna Regina in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a child of this vibrant land, I have always been surrounded by the rich culture that defines our nation—from the hum of rice fields to the aroma of a freshly cooked plate of pepperpot, a dish that speaks to our diverse heritage. Whether it’s enjoying a sunny day at the stunning Shell Beach or gathering with family for a festive celebration, the warmth of our community is something I cherish deeply.
Guyanese culture is a beautiful blend of influences, and I love sharing that with others, especially as part of our diaspora. Being part of the Little Guyana community in Queens, New York, allows me to connect with fellow Guyanese who share in the flavors of our home, whether it’s through sharing recipes or enjoying a lively celebration of Mashramani.
