Greetings! My name is Allison Waziram, and I proudly call the lush landscapes of Pomeroon, Pomeroon-Supenaam, my home. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant rhythms of our local culture, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our rich heritage, from the tantalizing taste of Dhal Puri filled with ground chickpeas to the shared tales around the community about the majestic Pomeroon River and its beautiful surroundings. This river has been a lifeline for many, and it's a place where laughter and memories flow as freely as the water itself.
As a resident, I cherish the sense of community that defines our unique Guyanese identity. Whether it's the hustle of the market days or the serenity of the mangroves, each moment holds a special place in my heart. Although I’ve ventured beyond our borders, experiencing the clear blue waters of Barbados and other places, my roots remain firmly entrenched in Guyana. I often reflect on how far we’ve come as a people and how I, along with many in the diaspora, continue to share our stories and culture with the world, fostering understanding and connection.
