In my daily life, I cultivate a variety of crops, from rice to plantains, celebrating the rich bounty of our land. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve cherished the flavors that define our culture, from the spicy curries to the beloved dhalpurie, which I still enjoy with my family on special occasions. I often tell my friends abroad about how we pronounce our local dishes—like “qwibo” instead of “keebo”—because every detail matters when it comes to keeping our traditions alive. As I engage with the diaspora, I feel a deep connection to those who share stories of their grandparents and the rich history of our homeland, whether it's the bustling streets of Georgetown or the serene banks of the Pomeroon River.
