Hello! My name is Amelia Parris, and I’m a teacher based in the vibrant community of Markenday Street, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the diverse cultures that make our country unique. Whether it's sharing a good laugh over a freshly made roti, which for me is the ultimate curry companion, or enjoying the beautiful sceneries along our rivers, my roots run deep in this beautiful land. As one of my friends once said, "Es-eh-key-bow had me cracking up with laugh," and that spirit of joy is something I carry into my classroom every day.
In my role as an educator, I strive to inspire my students to embrace our rich heritage while looking towards the future. I believe in the power of education to build a brighter tomorrow, just as our ancestors did when they worked hard to provide opportunities for the next generation. I’m proud to share that our university is free, which opens doors for many young minds in our region. It's a privilege to witness their growth and potential, especially as they navigate their own journeys amidst our lush landscapes.
As a member of the diaspora, I cherish the connections we maintain no matter where we are in the world.
