About AMOS MORRIS SMITH

About Amos Smith

Hello! I’m Amos Smith, a proud Guyanese from the vibrant community of Hope Essequibo Coast. Nestled in the heart of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, my roots run deep in this beautiful land where the mighty Essequibo River flows. As a labourer, I embrace hard work and the value of community, reflecting the spirit of my ancestors who tilled this rich soil long before me. The warmth of our people is matched only by the lush landscapes and the rich traditions that define our culture.

Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always been surrounded by the delightful aromas of our diverse cuisine - from the savory pepperpot to the sweet and tangy pineapples that flourish in our backyard gardens. I find joy in sharing meals with family and friends, where stories are exchanged as generously as the food on our plates. The unique blend of ethnicities here has shaped my understanding of the world, and I take pride in our ability to connect through music, language, and, of course, food. Whether it’s the vibrant festivals or quiet moments by the river, each experience adds to the rich tapestry of our culture.

As a member of the diaspora, I cherish the connections I have with fellow Guyanese, both at home and abroad. Our stories resonate beyond borders, from the peaceful islands of Wakapau to the bustling streets of the capital. I’m always eager to hear from others who share this love for our homeland, whether through the flavors of our dishes or the tales of our people. Let’s celebrate our heritage and continue to uplift one another, no matter where we are in the world!
