Greetings! My name is Anelia Kishun, and I proudly call Essequibo my home. Nestled at 12 Temple Street in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region, my life revolves around the heart of Guyanese culture. As a housewife, I cherish the daily moments spent cooking our traditional dishes, from fragrant pepperpot to sweet and creamy black cake, often infused with the rich flavors that remind me of family gatherings and festive celebrations.
Living in Essequibo, I find joy in the lush landscapes and vibrant communities, where the Pomeroon River flows gracefully by. The local markets are a treasure trove of fresh produce, and there’s nothing quite like enjoying a fresh coconut water on a hot day. My roots run deep here, and despite the challenges our beloved country faces, I remain hopeful for a brighter future for all Guyanese, both at home and in the diaspora. We share a unique bond, often reminiscing about our homeland’s beauty and resilience.
