Welcome to my corner of the world! My name is Mayra Kishun, and I am a proud vendor based in the heart of the beautiful Essequibo Coast, specifically at 1 Middle Street Zorg in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Guyana, I’ve always cherished our rich cultural heritage, from the mouthwatering pepper pot to the sweet, spicy essence of our local cook-up rice. My passion for sharing these flavors with locals and visitors alike drives my work as a vendor, where you can often find me serving up delicious homemade dishes and traditional sweets.
As a part of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand how important it is to maintain connections with our roots, even from afar. Whether it's through the stories we share or the food we enjoy, I take pride in representing our culture. I often hear comments like “So technically Guyana is Mini India,” and while it's true we’ve been influenced by various cultures, every dish I prepare tells a story uniquely ours. I enjoy engaging with customers from all walks of life and am always eager to educate them about the proper pronunciation of our beloved locations, such as ‘Essequibo’ and ‘Pameroon’—it’s all about keeping our identity alive!
