Hello! I’m Angela Mc Leod, a dedicated teacher residing on the vibrant West Bank of Demerara. My roots run deep in this beautiful country, where every day is a celebration of our rich culture and heritage. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Pomeroon and taking in the sights and sounds of the Pom River, I’ve learned to appreciate the simple joys of life, like sharing a plate of curry and roti or indulging in a hearty meal of dhal pouri (even if I have to defend its moisture level! 😉).

From the mysteries of Kaieteur Falls (not Ky-Iter Falls, mind you! 🌊) to the bustling markets filled with fresh produce, I emphasize the importance of community, resilience, and our shared stories. In the classroom, I often incorporate local customs and history, helping my students understand their place within our society and the wider diaspora.
Being part of the Guyanese diaspora means carrying a piece of home wherever I go. I remain connected to fellow Guyanese around the world, sharing laughs and memories over our distinct phrases and the beauty of our landscapes, whether it’s the high hills of Warakabra or the serene shores of Myrie Island. I believe that education is a powerful tool for bridging distances, and I’m committed to nurturing the next generation of proud Guyanese leaders.
