Hello! I'm Ann Allcock, a passionate teacher based in the beautiful Essequibo Capoey Lake region of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of Guyana, I've come to cherish the rich traditions that define our way of life. Whether it's savoring a hearty plate of pepper pot or spending weekends by the river at Pomeroon, the warmth of our community is something I strive to share with my students every day.
As an educator, I believe in the importance of connecting our youth to their heritage. I often incorporate local stories and folklore into my lessons, allowing students to appreciate our history and cultural pride. From the bustling markets of Anna Regina to the serene beauty of Wakapau and beyond, every corner of Guyana has a story worth telling, and I aim to inspire my students to explore these narratives.
I also enjoy engaging with the Guyanese diaspora, where I often see comments about our homeland like, "Guyana not poor" and "the way David just downing the pepper pot." These expressions remind me that no matter where we are in the world, our roots connect us. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
