Hello! I’m Ashley De Silva, a proud resident of Sandpit Essequibo Coast, located in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and rich waters of our rivers—like the serene River Kamandankaro and the bustling River Sand Hill Wakapau—has deeply influenced my appreciation for our natural beauty and the cultural richness of our people. In this tight-knit community, we celebrate life through our festivals, music, and, of course, the delightful flavors of our local cuisine, from pepperpot to metemgee, which always brings us together.
Having spent years in this beautiful land of rivers and rainforests, I understand the complexities of our beloved Guyana. While some outside perspectives might only focus on the struggles, I cherish the stories of resilience and hope that define our character.
