Hello! My name is Barnard Rodrigues, and I proudly call Supenaam Essequibo my home. Nestled by the serene Pomeroon Creek, my life is deeply intertwined with the vibrant culture and rich history of Guyana. As a labourer, I contribute to the livelihood of my family and community, drawing inspiration from the resilience of my ancestors who traversed from various lands to create a unique Guyanese identity. Though my family has roots that stretch back to diverse cultures, including those from the nearby Pom River, it is our shared experiences and connections that enrich our lives. I often find myself reminiscing about tales my grandmother shared about her own journey from Dutch Guinea, which brings a sense of belonging to those I have yet to meet across the diaspora.
Guyana is more than just my home; it is a vibrant part of the Caribbean, and I take pride in our heritage as one of the founding members of CARICOM.
