Hello! I’m Bhagwandas Persaud, a proud carpenter hailing from the beautiful Regina Essequibo Coast, specifically 29 East of Back Street in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Guyana, I’ve always found inspiration in the vibrant rivers like River Kamadankoro Koria and Bat Creek, which tell stories of our rich culture and history. My craft is a reflection of my roots, and I strive to incorporate the natural beauty and traditional techniques passed down through generations into my work.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the longing many of us feel for our homeland, especially when it comes to the delightful tastes of our local cuisine. There’s nothing quite like the warmth of a home-cooked meal featuring our beloved dishes. I often reminisce about missing the flavors of GT food, and I cherish the connections I maintain with fellow Guyanese, whether they're in New York, Greece, or right here at home. These connections keep me grounded and motivated, reminding me of our shared stories and struggles, including our complex history of oppression.
