Greetings! My name is Bhawani Jagnanan, and I am a proud potter based in the vibrant community of Belle Plaine, nestled in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Here, amidst the lush landscapes and the soothing sounds of the Pomeroon River, I draw inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of my homeland. Growing up, I was surrounded by the tantalizing aromas of local delicacies like pepperpot and cook-up rice, which not only nourished my body but also fueled my creative spirit.
As a potter, I strive to incorporate traditional Guyanese designs and techniques into my work, creating pieces that reflect our unique identity. The colorful patterns reminiscent of our traditional attire and the natural beauty of our environment find their way into my creations. I believe that every piece I make carries a piece of my heart and the essence of our beloved Guyana, connecting me to both my roots and the diaspora community around the world.
