Greetings! I’m Deodat Worrin, a proud potter based in the heart of Bank Essequibo, specifically at 759 Block 8 New Housing in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. My passion for pottery has allowed me to connect deeply with my roots, drawing inspiration from the vibrant culture and rich traditions of Guyana. I often find myself crafting pieces that reflect the beauty of our landscapes—from the serene Pomeroon River to the lush greenery that surrounds us. Each creation tells a story, much like the lively exchanges we have in our communities, filled with laughter and kinship.
In my work, I incorporate elements of traditional Guyanese cuisine, like the bold flavors of chicken curry, which remind me of family gatherings and celebrations. My pieces often evoke memories of sharing meals with loved ones, much like the camaraderie felt when visiting fellow Guyanese, whether here or in the diaspora.
