Hello! My name is Nandkishore Andrews, and I proudly call E 1/2 Sans Souci in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a potter, I pour my heart and heritage into every piece I create, drawing inspiration from the vibrant culture and rich traditions of our beautiful country. Guyana, a land of diverse landscapes and peoples, has always influenced my work, reflecting the colors of our lush rainforests and the spirit of our communities.
Growing up in a country known for its delicious cuisine, I often find myself reminiscing about warm roti and duck from local vendors, or enjoying a hearty bowl of pepperpot during festive occasions. These flavors not only fill our stomachs but also nourish our souls, connecting us to our ancestors and each other. I believe that my art serves as a bridge, keeping the essence of our culture alive while also reaching out to the Guyanese diaspora around the world, who carry our stories and traditions wherever they go.
In my work, I aim to celebrate the beauty of Guyana and its people. Despite the challenges we face, I see a resilient spirit among my fellow Guyanese, striving to make our community a better place for future generations.
